Nature of Snowdonia and other workshops are offered by Mike Raine, author of Nature of Snowdonia (Pesda Press 2020) and The Mountain Leader - A Practical Manual (Pesda Press 2023). These are both available from the books category on this website. Mike is a former Geography Teacher, former Senior Instructor at Plas y Brenin (The National Outdoor Centre) and is currently an Outdoor Trainer and Mountaineering Instructor working in north Wales.
Mike is a qualified mountain leader (winter and summer), he is a Winter Mountaineering and Climbing Instructor and International Mountain Leader. Mike specialises in helping other Mountain Leaders and Mountaineering Instructors reach their full potential. Mike has extensive experience working on Mountain Training courses on both training and assessments. Mike advises and works the Association of Mountaineering Instructors, The Mountain Training Association and the Snowdonia Society. He has contributed work to the Snowdonia National Park, the National Trust and the Carneddau Project. He has been leading in the hills since he was a Scout in the 1970’s. Still fit, his current activities include sea kayak touring and bike packing, as well as walking and climbing.
