The Welsh language has a rich history, and this is beautifully reflected in the names of its native plants. Just as English common names can vary across regions, so too do Welsh plant names differ throughout the country.
Will be working with local, climber and mountain leader Aled Oddy.
This workshop will delve into the roots of plant naming, exploring Latin classifications—but most importantly, it will focus on learning a collection of Welsh plant names and the stories behind them. Together, we’ll uncover the names of some of the common flowers we encounter while out hill walking and the stories that go with them.
We'll be on the hill all day, so come prepared, in hillwalking gear, for the prevailing conditions, with a packed lunch and a drink.
