Mosses and Liverworts - special workshop
At last, the workshop so many of you have been waiting for! I’m really excited that I’ve been able to capture the services of bryophyte specialist Lucia Rufino to lead us on a unique and inspiring exploration into the miniature world of mosses and liverworts.
As outdoor leaders, you’re in a privileged position to open people’s eyes to the hidden wonders of nature. While we often focus on the broader landscape, flora, and fauna during our journeys, this workshop invites you to pause, crouch down, and delve into the incredible micro-worlds beneath our feet.
Designed to awaken your curiosity and deepen your knowledge, this session will equip you with the insight and inspiration to share this often-overlooked realm with those you lead. Come discover a whole new layer of Snowdonia’s natural beauty.
Lucia Ruffino is a free-lance botanist and habitat surveyor with a particular interest in peatlands and a passion for bryophytes. Lucia teaches field and microscopic bryophyte identification skills and specialises in Sphagnum identification.
We'll be on the hill all day, so come prepared, in hillwalking gear, for the prevailing conditions, with a packed lunch and a drink.
Meet - 09.30
Venue - Tyn y Coed Car Park, Capel Curig, (register your car number plate in reception)
You'll get one MTA CPD point too.
