Mike Raine’s Nature of Snowdonia workshops are designed to complement the book Nature of Snowdonia. As such they are aimed directly at trainee and qualified mountain leaders, mountaineering instructors and hill and moorland leaders. International mountain leaders and lowland leaders will also enjoy them. We cover all of the components of the environment such as geology, geomorphology, glaciation, flowers, mosses, clubmosses, lichen, ferns, trees and, to be honest, anything else we happen to pass. We’ll take look at human impact on the landscape over the years and consider competing land use demands today.
The workshop is delivered in easily digestible story form and much of it can be taken away for use when leading your own groups. We work in small teams to consolidate learning and revisit topics through out the day. This is a tried and tested formular with, many, many happy attendees. I’d love it if could join me.
You will need to dress for the weather and expect to be 'on the hill' for about six hours. Bring a packed lunch. You will find a digital camera and/or a smart phone, pen/pencil and notebook handy too.
