Mountain Training have updated their qualification syllabuses. They have improved the sections on leadership. This workshop is aimed at those who already hold the ML, HML or LL Qualifications or are working towards them and those who train and assess these qualifications. The aim is to get under the skin of the changes and see how they look and feel ‘on the hill’.
We’ll start with an indoor session brainstorming the characteristics of good leadership. We’ll then get out on walk to translate these into leadership behaviours. Armed with this experience we’ll visit some theoretical models of leadership including the INSPIRE model as used by Mountain Training. All this will then be related to the walking qualification syllabi and how leadership might be demonstrated, trained and assessed ‘on the hill’.
But this workshop is about so much more than just the syllabus requirements…
In the afternoon we’ll spend some time researching the benefits of walking. We investigate how knowledge of the benefits of walking in the rain, the dark, by rivers, up hills, carrying a rucksack and much more can enhance our leadership and set up the people we lead for a lifetime of healthy walking.
Attendees will leave the workshop with an action plan based on leadership suited to their own needs.
The workshop will be run from the classroom above Alpkit in Betws y Coed. Alpkit kindly offer attendees on these workshops a 10% discount in store. You will need a packed lunch drinks and be equipped to go for a walk in the prevailing conditions. The group is limited to 8 people so that we can have deeper discussions.
