Join me and Teleri Fielden for a farm visit with a difference. Teleri and her husband Ned are hardworking farmers trying to make nature friendly farming work here in Snowdonia. Teleri also works for the Farmers Union of Wales.
Come and join us as we discover how the farm is worked, where our food comes from and how nature can co-exist with farming. It behoves us all to know more about where our food comes from and how our land is managed, especially those of us leading groups. This workshop will be of interest to Mountain Leaders, Mountaineering Instructors, Lowland Leaders and Hill and Moorland Leaders as the farm rises from a flood plain to some rough upland grazing. We’ll certainly talk about the challenges of farming, the farmers year, how stock is selected and managed. But we’ll also study the nature around the farm and how farming can impact the environment in positive and negative ways.
We'll be out and about all day, so come prepared, in hillwalking gear, for the prevailing conditions, with a packed lunch and a drink.
