Mountain Training have recently updated the walking qualification syllabuses. They have improved the section on leadership and added a section on teaching and learning skills. This workshop is aimed at those who already hold the ML, HML or LL Qualifications or are working towards them those who train and assess these qualifications. The aim is to get under the skin of the changes and see how they look and feel ‘on the hill’.and

We’ll start with an indoor session brainstorming the characteristics of good leadership. We’ll then get out on a walk (it'll be lowland leader terrain around Betws y Coed) to translate these into leadership behaviours. Armed with this experience we’ll visit some theoretical models of leadership including the INSPIRE model as used by Mountain Training. All this will then be related to the walking qualification syllabi and how leadership might be demonstrated, trained and assessed ‘on the hill’.
