About the Event
A one day workshop aimed at mountaineering instructors, mountain leaders, hill and moorland leaders and lowland leaders. Discover a deeper knowledge and understanding of the countryside around us. What can you eat? What is good for your health? What works and what doesn’t work? You’ve all heard some ML stories about plants and animals, come and find out the full story from an expert. Join Dave Philips with Mike Raine to unlock the secrets of our land and open your eyes to things you’ve simply walked passed for years. This autumn special will feature the secrets of fungi
Dave is an experienced bushcraft expert with a background as a Chef and as a Health and Safety expert. We wander though woodland and on to some open ground and see what’s what. We’ll look at no trace principles for fire lighting and shelter building. We’ll find out the good, the bad and the ugly about the bushcrafting world. Dave is also a shooter, so we’ll be able to have in informed discussion about the pro’s and con’s of shooting wildlife. Dave is real raconteur with an amazing knowledge of how our countryside works, this will be a most fascinating day that will give you many stories to tell.
As ever Mike will chip in with elements of the Nature of Snowdonia to enhance and expand your own knowledge of the places we work.
We’ll be walking (slowly) all day so bring a packed lunch and dress for the weather. Hill walking kit is recommended. You'll get 1 MTA, AMI or BAIML CPD point
